CC community celebrates “The Machine”

This morning in the historic alumni gym, the Chaminade Guard Drill team received a celebratory breakfast in recognition of their amazing achievements at the Army and US Nationals drill team competition in Daytona.

Mr. Joseph Bray was on hand during the celebration to present the ‘challenge coin’ the CDR Andrew Ponce for his service and commitment to the success of “The Machine”.

The Chaminade Guard Drill and Color Guard Team competed at the 2021 US Army and US Nationals Drill Team Championship on the 30 Apr- 01 May 2021 in Daytona, Florida. The Machine performed in typical fashion with precision and discipline the only way they know how.

For the US Army Nationals, they competed against 1,790 Army JROTC Programs and placed: 2nd Place Inspection, 10th place Regulation, 3rd place Exhibition, 10th Place Color Guard, 5th Place Solo, 1st place Tandem with an overall placement of 5th place.

For the US Nationals, the team competed against 3,390 multi-service teams and placed: 1st Place Armed Inspection, 7th Placed Armed Regulation, 3rd Placed Armed Exhibition, 4th Place Armed Color Guard, 4th Place Commander, 2nd Place Solo (Cadet Ponce).

With no surprise, the Chaminade Drill Team placement consist of 2nd Place in the Nation earning them 7 trophies for the entire 2-day event.
