Cadets participate at Wreaths Across America

On Saturday, December 19, the JROTC Department escorted 84 cadets (Class A Uniform) to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on Harry Wurzbach Road for the annual “Wreaths Across America” event.

Wreaths Across America coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies at more than 1,600 locations across the United States, at sea, and abroad. From the Revolutionary War to present-day conflicts, our veterans are devoted sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, sisters and brothers. They come from all backgrounds in life to place those lives on the line for our freedoms.

Our Central Catholic High School cadets joined with this amazing organization to show respect to our fallen heroes and honor the sacrifices that our veterans have made. Over 40 parent volunteers along with 2 Army Instructors monitored the cadets in order to ensure that proper mask-wearing, hand-washing, and social distancing was being applied as much as possible during the event.

In the words of CPT Rhodes: “A truly humbling experience each time I visit these historic grounds. Our corps was the center of attention. Everyone appreciated our cadets and their commitment to our heroes. Thanks for all who supported us!”
