The Dallas Cowboys faced the reigning AFC Champion Cincinnati Bengals in week 2 and it sure was exciting. The Cowboys were without Quarterback Dak Prescott, giving inexperienced Cooper Rush his second start as a Cowboy. He came in strong leading the team to touchdowns on their first two possessions. The first was a 9-yard touchdown catch from wide receiver Noah Brown and the second a 1-yard run from running back Tony Pollard, which gave them a 14-3 lead early. Micah Parsons once again performed well sacking Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow twice. Sacks seemed to be a common theme for the Cowboys’ defense as they ended up sacking Joe Burrow 4 times in the first half and finishing the game with 6 total. While the Cowboys held a 17-3 lead at the half, the Bengals came back and made 2 field goals in the third quarter making it a one-possession game at 17-9 going into the fourth quarter. A late fumble by Cowboys’ tight end Dalton Schultz gave the Bengals a chance to tie it up which they did on a 5-yard pass to receiver Tee Higgins. As the game was tied, the Cowboys had a late stop and a drive by Cooper Rush put them in field goal range with seconds left. Cowboy kicker Brett Maher then hit a 50-yard game-winning kick making the final score 20-17. It was an impressive win for the Cowboys after a blowout loss in week 1. This puts them at 1-1 and they go to New York in week 3 to play the undefeated New York Giants. I think the game should be close and the inner-division rivalry between the two will surely make it interesting.
