On Tuesday, March 29, local law enforcement and emergency units gave a demonstration in the Quad about the importance of driving safely and not texting, as well as a grim demonstration on how a smashed vehicle can be cut apart by the ‘Jaws of Life’.

District Attorney Nicholas LaHood spoke, as did an SAFD spokesman about the dangers of cell phone use while driving, and the life-changing consequences that can occur due to unsafe driving.

Also in the demonstration was an actual NASCAR vehicle, some SAFD fire trucks and patrol cruisers, and some had the opportunity to try their hand behind the wheel of a NASCAR simulator. The event allowed Central Catholic students, faculty and staff to enjoy a catered lunch in the Quad as well during the event.
