Iron Fang Robotics is on a roll!
February 24, 2016
Central Catholic’s First Robotics Competition (FRC) team, the Iron Fangs, has had a very busy schedule recently. The team is completing their competition robot and a second practice robot that will be used in a competition in March. In fact, on February 23, by midnight, the competition robot is required to be placed in a large container, time stamped, and cannot be touched again until March 9 – 12 when the Alamo City Regional takes place. The regional competition is open to the public, so the CCHS community is invited to attend to cheer them on.
Last Saturday, twenty-three middle school robotics teams visited Central Catholic as the Iron Fangs hosted the first Lego League regional qualifier. The event was a success thanks to students, parents, and other volunteers who put many hours of work into the competition.
Mr. Horwath, Robotics Team Coach, stated, “We constantly receive compliments about how involved the team members are, how much they have accomplished (especially as a rookie team), and how the team embodies the gracious professionalism that we all expect. The outside expectations for the Iron Fangs is very high, and I have every confidence in the team’s ability to not only meet but beat the challenges set before us.”
