Continuing the Heritage (CTH) is a service opportunity that St. Mary’s University hosts each fall and spring semester. CTH is a great opportunity to give back to the local community and was this year’s first official event for the San Antonio Archdiocese “40 Days of Service Campaign.” Service began with a prayer from the VP of Mission and Identity, Fr. Tim Eden, S.M., and opening remarks came from St. Mary’s University President, Tom Mangler.

Central Catholic had over thirty students, faculty, alumni, and parents participate in this experience. They worked at the SA Food Bank Community Gardens harvesting broccoli, strawberries, and shoveling wheel barrel after wheel barrel of mulch. This was a fun and educational experience for all those who attended, and the students harvested over 1,600 lbs. of broccoli that will be distributed to 58,000 people in the 16 counties that the San Antonio Food Banks serves every week.
