Academic Team grabs wins at UIL meet

Central Catholic’s Academic Team competed Saturday, Jan. 16 at the NEISD Churchill UIL meet and brought home more winning achievements, competing in multiple categories among a group of 26 area schools at Churchill High School.
Placing 1st in Calculator Applications, Sophomore Daniel Guerra (shown above), also placed 2nd in Math. Other CCHS academic competitors include Antonio Farah, who placed 7th in Math, Matthew Vargas and Vincent Vasquez, who placed 5th and 6th respectively in Current Events, Adam Trevino, who placed 4th in Spelling, and Joseph Shandera, who placed 10th in Headline Writing.
Students interested in competing for the CCHS Academic Team should contact Mrs. Uriegas in Room 288 to get more information. There are a number of categories and disciplines students can compete in, and there are more UIL and TAPPS meets coming up, so check it out soon!
