1SG Carrion assists Wounded Warriors
October 17, 2015
1SG Carrion is one of our dedicated JROTC staff members who works not only to help our students in their development, but also to help the San Antonio Wounded Warriors.
Every week, 1SG Carrion practices with service members, both active duty and veterans, who are wounded, ill, or injured. These practices are a part of a program that helps them transition back to active duty or into society as a veteran.
Central Catholic has been partnering with the Wounded Warriors for the over 3 years. Our Bordelon Rifle Team provides assistance to the Wounded Warriors during their two most competitive competitions: The Valor Games and Texas Regional Competition. During the fall, service members completing the transition plan participate in various adapted sports including cycling, swimming, kayaking, archery, rowing, air guns, track and field, and many more.
We’re fortunate to have the members of the Warrior Transition Battalion from Brooke Army Medical Center on our campus throughout the year as they train for their Air Gun competition in the fall and their Track and Field competition in the spring.
Additionally, later this month from Oct. 23 through the 25th, the Bordelon Rifles will be hosting their annual shooting competition here at Central Catholic. The three day event will bring in competitors from numerous area high schools as well as military experts who will all compete and sharpen their shooting expertise.
Thank you, 1SG Carrion, for dedicating your time and teaching efforts to not only our students but to the rest of the community as well.
