Success For the Soccer Team?

Monday October 26th was Central’s first official practice of the season for the soccer team. The team had a dinner and a meeting before training started and all of the season’s goals were laid out by Head Coach Edward Cartee and the captains Diego Gonzales (junior), Luke Duncan (senior), Anthony Medellin (senior), and Tony Diaz (senior).

Captain Anthony Medellin thinks that this will be a successful year because “Everyone has been working hard to improve for the past few months.” He thinks that there is more team chemistry than last year and that this will help the team work together. Sophomore Rob Anderson says “the team has a lot more energy this year, that’s good, everyone’s working harder and with more spirit.”

The first game of the season will be on the road against San Marcos Academy on November 10th, the second game will be in Austin against St. Andrews on November 17th. The team’s first home game will be against St. Anthony’s on December 1st. The team will go on a retreat for team bonding late in November to prepare for the tough season.

The soccer team returns with high hopes for this season with a district title and a state championship ring in sight. The only question the team has for the student body is “Are you with us?”
