Central Catholic Varsity Soccer compiled a championship best record during the Northside Soccer Tournament hosted at Northside Independent School District’s Dub Farris Stadium on January 4, 5, and 6.

The tournament format was a showcase of 3 friendlies, so technically there is not a champion declared, but CC Soccer finished with the best record of any participating team at 2-0-1 (all other competing teams either had a loss or 2 ties). Currently Central Soccer is #24 in the nation and #1 in the city.  Jay are ranked #7 in the city, Clemens #8 in the city, and Stevens #3 in the city.

When asked about how the tournament went overall for the team, Coach Cartee had this to say: “The tournament was a good learning experience for our players.  Although at times we didn’t perform at our best, the boys showed tremendous toughness to come from behind and then hold on for a 2-1 win versus Jay on Thursday, our attack was too much for Clemens in a 5-2 win on Friday. We dominated against Stevens on Saturday and were a bit unlucky to get a tie instead of a win.  The team is improving, and we need to keep improving, because we have even tougher games ahead and we have to be sharper than we were this weekend.”
The team will be competing again this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in the Northeast ISD which will be played at Blossom Athletic Center.
