Buttons Declaw Bears in First Season Scrimmage

Robert Smith, Lead Editor

The Central football team started their season with a friendly scrimmage against the Edison Bears Friday night at Central Catholic’s Bob Benson, ‘66 Stadium. The Central Catholic varsity team gave us a sneak peek at what we might, and hope to expect this season. It was a tight game between the two teams and Edison took an early lead. Later in the game, sophomore Hilario Gomez intercepted the ball and ran it back for a Central touchdown. Sophomore Franco Querido converted the extra point and the game was tied at 7-7. Central then scored another touchdown and the game ended 14-7. The game gave us an idea of what to expect for this season: A district championship. So the staff at the Pep wishes the team a great season full of great times and success.
