Mr. Cassler, Adviser

The CCHS Academic Team presented a strong showing again at the recent UIL meet held at MacArthur HS in NEISD on Jan. 30. Central team competitors placed in seven out of the 12 events they entered.

In Number Sense, Tristan Aguirre placed 10th, with Josh Uviedo placing 5th. In Ready Writing, Jack Betancourt earned an 8th place ribbon. Thomas Vargas placed 3rd in Current Events, and Josh Uviedo brought home another ribbon, placing 8th in Math event. In Spelling, the Buttons showed up strong, placing 2nd in the overall Team scoring, while Adam Trevino placed 5th in that event. Joseph Shandera, a repeat meet winner for the Central academic team, placed 6th in Headline Writing, and Jesse Solis placed 4th in Social Studies.

Congratulations to all of these winners, and to all of the Academic Team members. Please share your academic skills and talents! See Mrs. Uriegas in Room 288 if you have an interest in getting involved as the team prepares for upcoming TAPPS competitions.
